Does boredom cause exercise?

I have, more than a few times, returned home from the library with a book that I soon discover I have already read.  On Saturday, however, I returned with an exercise DVD that looked fun and easy…only to find I own a copy and it was sitting right on top of the very small stack of DVD’s that we call our own.

So, tonight I decided perhaps I should try this out – for anyone curious to know the name of this item that inspired me to put down a book and move – it’s entitled Denise Austin’s Fat-Burning Dance Mix.  I’m sure that Denise Austin is famous or infamous in some fashion, as she has DVD’s for sale, but I have to admit I was attracted only by the selection:  Latin Groove, Jazz & Pop, Funk, Ballet Sculpt.

And so I’ve completed warm-up, Latin Groove, Club Funk and Cool Down tonight.  I am instantly reminded that I have not engaged in any kind of exercise like this in years and it does not come back to one naturally.  In addition to the physical challenge, which was minimal, I find it so boring.  I know that exercise causes boredom in me…and now as Ed begins his 5th week of culinary school and I have way too much time alone and unscheduled, boredom is causing exercise.  I know, this a good thing…
