6 hours and 40 degrees

‘Back in Minnesota.  It’s cold and rainy and during the past two weeks all of the leaves have turned to yellow.  Our summer flowers have frozen and their stems hang from the pots like spider legs.  The neighborhood children are all playing inside and I haven’t heard a motorcycle all day.

Yet, the bicyclists are out and the dog-walkers too.  Garrison Keillor accurately describes Minnesotans as a hearty lot – soon the dogs will bring out their sweaters (many of them with the Vikings logo) and I’ll be yearning again to be in the warmth of somewhere like Tucson.

In the meantime, I am pondering the big issues in life – such as, why Marge Simpson on the cover of Playboy?  Is this a move to draw in a younger audience to the magazine?  Is this somehow about technology and I don’t understand it.  Is this a statement that the Hefner family accepts the decline of printed material in this genre (it’s not porn, but what is it?) and is heading out with a laugh?

Or, is Marge the perfect women and finally society is willing to acknowledge this?
