Dogs, cats, rabbits and snakes – oh my!

My day began at 5AM with Tommy, perhaps the world’s most spoiled cat, returning from his nighttime adventures — and insisting I awake and pay attention to him.  With jet lag and the time change, I am certain my response was a disappointment to him. 

The weather here in Tucson makes me believe I am in San Diego.  I took a late afternoon walk and met a great dog from next door – a big, friendly shepherd named Whiskey River.  I also learned that the neighbor has never seen a snake on his property…and thus my greatest fear in being here is somewhat alleviated. 

I continued my walk until nearly dark.  The mountains are breath-taking and while the cacti are no longer in bloom as they were in July, there is no sense of a real change in season short of the absence of intense day-time heat. 

As I re-entered the yard I observed an event I came to call "the daily rabbit party" during our last visit.  Each day as the temperatures cooled, a small number of rabbits would congregate just outside the guest house and engage in whatever it is rabbits do in the later afternoon/early evening. 

Can there be a bad day when I see the rabbit’s party, meet a great dog and a cat wants my attention?  I think not.  I can’t wait for tomorrow!
