Family & Friends in Tucson

We returned late last night from a week in Tucson – it is warm there and they have none of the piles of white stuff all around.  And they call it winter, just the same.

In June, 2008, Ed and I traveled to Tucson to celebrate the 100th birthday of my great aunt.  While there, our hosts were two family members that I’ve never really known, June and Patrick.  June and Patrick have led the most interesting life…authoring books, sailing all over the world, owning a restaurant in Vermont and more.  And they are two of the most gracious and caring people we’ve ever known.  Since that first trip last year, we’ve returned 4 times – for 2 weeks in July (it was HOT then!), some time in October and this recent trip, accompanied by close friends here in MN, Terri and Randy.

If home is where they have to take you in, June & Patrick offer hospitality as if they are home to the world.  Great food with interesting wines and beer and truly stimulating conversation at every sitting.

I am blessed.  And Aunt June is 101 now and expecting us to return soon.  I would not want to disappoint her.
