For Mary

I had lunch today with a friend who I have not sat with in months, due to a real challenge in her life.  One of those life changing experiences where we find out who and what we really are – and she has shown herself to be what so many of us who have known her always saw…great strength and faith, courage to take on anything and in the midst of it all to protect her children and the others she loves.  I sat eating my salad and soup at Olive Garden in awe of her and so appreciative that I have her in my life.

And I discovered that she is reader of this blog and now I need no other motivation to write – to be able to laugh about "No offense to old ladies" made my day.   There is not "something" than can replace the days we so often saw each other, and could whisper "GEEZ!" when the craziness of it all turned in to frustration…however, a day like today can remind us that what we have is never lost.

I love you, Mary, and you are in my thoughts and my heart every single day as you carry on your fight.  You are the coolest, bravest woman and absolutely the best mother and wife and friend I have ever known.
